Significant Drop in Range after Software Update

  • The latest software update 03/2025.50 was installed overnight automatically when the car was parked yesterday.

HV Battery was fully charged showing 94 kms of range before the installation and I noticed that has dropped down to 81 kms this morning.

Can a software installation end up consuming this much charge to lose 13 kms of range, or the update itself might have led to an algorithm change in range calculation, depending of instant temperature conditions etc???

That is the reason, why I monitor relevant parameters with Home-Assistant and Node-Red.

If a drop in range calculation happens, I can correlate with the SOC. If there is no correlating drop in SOC, the algorithm is using different values than before, whatever the reason, as mf23 mentioned.

These recordings are from a BMW U11 iX1.

The jumps are caused by different reasons:

    - Switching the cars (iX1 from "out of" to "in the garage")

    - Checking out some specifics (trying to get Netflix or Waipu working) in the car

    - Activating diagnose-mode and reading out errors

    - Massive change in temperature

  • Absolutely explainable! Each and every one caused by me or environment.

The highest peaks are simply a result of switching to "max range-mode". Which saves me the trouble of deactivating "Standklimatisierung", seat heater etc when "working", sitting in the car seat :D
